VT INFOSAFE to raise public awareness of computer security issues

VT INFOSAFE will consist of a series of free public two-hour training sessions around Vermont led by volunteer members of the Vermont InfraGard chapter. Recognizing the particular vulnerability of residential Internet users to cybercrime, identity theft, and other security vulnerabilities, the mission of the VT INFOSAFE project is to raise public awareness of computer security issues and to give the public the information resources to help them secure their computers and their information. Most individuals do not realize that their home computers can be used as part of larger attacks on the Internet. Within the last year, there has been a large increase in the use of personal computers to launch devastating large-scale attacks upon U.S businesses.

The training sessions will take place in late May and early June. A full schedule of the sessions will be available at the press conference.
