VITC, Champlain College and GIV create Information Technology Institute for Vermont High School Students

The Governor?s Institute on Information Technology is a new collaborative offering designed by the Governor?s Institutes of Vermont (GIV), the Vermont Information Technology Center (VITC) and Champlain College. The IT institute will be held from June 22 to June 30, 2002 on the Champlain College campus in Burlington.

Web strategy and design, networking, cryptography and digital video are some of the computer fields to be explored during this weeklong program. Students will have the opportunity to dive into a variety of venues, follow industry models such as team-based work, and combine the technical, artistic and business aspects of IT.

The Governor?s Institutes of Vermont provide motivated Vermont high school students with intensive educational experiences, and the chance to study with the State?s finest professionals on the campuses of Vermont colleges. The programs emphasize experiential learning and subsequent community involvement, and seek to enroll students who reflect the diversity of Vermont.

Since 1982, more than 4,500 high school students have attended a Governor?s Institute program.
