In
November 1993, Governor Howard Dean instructed the Vermont Technology
Council to prepare a Science and Technology Plan for the state.
The plan was to address the broad goals of economic prosperity,
developing a new industrial base, and establishing academic excellence
for our institutions of higher learning, all in the context of
preserving the state's environmental heritage.
Among
several special centers established through the implementation
of this plan, the Vermont Information Technology Center (VITC)
is a collaboration between the Vermont Technology Council and
Champlain College.
